We are looking for a clever, detail oriented and motivated individual to join our Production Management Team. This is a mid-career position for a self motivated individual with a keen eye for detail. This individual will be based (once we get back into the office) in our office in Costa Mesa, CA with some availability for remote work.
What does this position entail?
The Post Production Supervisor (“PPS”) is responsible for managing Roadtrip Nation’s video editors and editing interns, and overseeing the team’s related workflow, resource planning, post production scheduling, productivity, and development.

This role reports directly to the Head of Production and works in close collaboration with the Associate Creative Director and producing team. The PPS will work with the team to deliver each piece of content on time and to the level of quality that Roadtrip Nation is known for, consistent with the company’s priorities, brand, and storytelling ethos. This person will plan and supervise the post production schedule, appropriate bandwidth, prioritization for all current and upcoming projects while maintaining clarity of information and good channels of communication.

This job may require driving on occasion as an essential part of the role, which requires passing a DMV background check. 
A typical day in this position will involve:
Supervise Post Production staff

  • In collaboration with the Head of Production and ACD, manage the hiring and onboarding of new editing and intern talent, including full time and temporary employees.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Production, ACD and Directing team on technical and creative feedback to editors on their work

Oversee post production workflow

  • Manage and oversee workflow related to ingest, logging, editing, and delivery,  including broadcast documentaries, online video, promotional ads, and other various videos assigned to the department
  • Manage and oversee post production  priorities, as directed by the ACD,  to ensure that the team is equipped with all necessary assets to move forward with assigned projects 
  • Oversee the day-to-day delegation of of work for editors and editing interns
  • Address potential issues and bottlenecks in workflow, with assistance from the ACD if needed

Implement and maintain post production infrastructure

  • Maintain and/or develop processes, systems and reports that provide clear guidance to the organization of allocation of resources and timelines
  • Establish, maintain and share workflows and timeline plans, and ensure ongoing efficiency improvement. 
  • Develop and implement archiving protocol, working with IT to review storage capacity challenges.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • 6+ years of experience with film and/or video editing, preferably in the documentary genre
  • 4+ years of experience with post production film and/or video editing, gaining deep knowledge base in overall production workflow, camera specs, video compression, industry standard software programs and hardware 
  • 4+ years of experience with employee management, development and morale management
  • Deep understanding of film editing, audio, color and motion graphics techniques
  • Proficiency with various video and audio editing platforms, including Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Pro Tools
  • BS degree, preferably in film or video or other equivalent experience
