The Editorial Assistant provides strong administrative support to senior level editors across all departments as needed, is responsible for sending out and keeping track of writer contracts and invoices, and helping to maintain the manuscript budget. 

Essential Job Functions:
  • 60% - Assists Editor(s) with varied general administrative duties. Process expenses, generates author contracts, tracks
  • budgets, tracks images, manages award submissions.
  • 35% - Conducts interviews, writes short items, researches and pitches stories. Assists with fact-checking and story
  • research for bigger pieces.
  • 5% - Represents the magazine on the phone, at press events and other appointments.

Requirements:
Education:
Completion of high school, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or English preferred.
Experience:
Previous internship or 1-2 years at a major consumer magazine or website required at the editorial assistant level, along with
experience in writing, interviewing, reporting and social media.
